XPS Live Special | Government sets course to unlock DB surplus
XPS Live Special | Government sets course to unlock DB surplus
9 June | Monday | 2pm - 3pm
Guest Speakers:
Paddy Gavin from Department for Work and Pensions (DWP)
Richard Knight from Burges Salmon
The Government has published its response to the DWP’s February 2024 ‘Options for DB schemes’ consultation. This sets a clear course for the Government’s plans to unlock DB surpluses for the benefit of members and employers.
Key points are the Government’s intention to introduce a statutory power for trustees to modify scheme rules to allow surplus sharing, and to lower the minimum threshold for surplus release from buyout to low dependency.
These changes could introduce new opportunities and challenges for trustees and sponsors of DB schemes.
In this webcast, our run-on solutions experts and guest speakers will cover:
- An overview of the changes: Including insight from Paddy Gavin from DWP, on the aims of the changes.
- Impact on trustees and employers: What these changes could mean for those assessing their strategy options.
- Actions to take now: Practical steps trustees and employers can take to prepare for, and adapt to, these changes.
