Helping members to prevent scams
Our teams provide a wide range of support and guidance to help ensure that no member falls victim to a scam.
Along with easy to follow videos and information, we’ve also invested in our services and work alongside industry professionals to deliver the highest levels of protection.
Our Scam Protection Service goes beyond the legislative requirements and uses a bespoke mix of warning flags. These are defined by legislation and drawn from our extensive experience of thousands of transfer cases and wider market knowledge and best practice.
We are also aligned with the Pension Scams Industry Group (PSIG) and contribute to the Pension Scams Industry Forum meaning we’re at the forefront of protecting pension scheme members from scams.
We speak to members directly, gathering robust information about transfer requests, including a direct understanding of the members’ circumstances, increasing the chance of identifying suspicious activity that a paper-based or standardised approach alone may miss.
During 2025 our team completed and audited 4,353 scam protection calls which resulted in 56 refused transfers, safeguarding £5.5m in pension savings. We have had no reports of any actual ‘scams’ (i.e. members who have lost all or some of their pensions).
