Is Bitcoin coming of age? And if not, why not?

Following Donald Trump’s election win, Bitcoin has surged, reaching a value of over $100,000 in mid-December. Has it now reached the status of being investment worthy? Simeon Willis, our Chief Investment Officer, revisits the investment case for institutional investors.

On the 3 January Bitcoin will turn 16 years old and whilst in human terms this age is not sufficient to be considered an adult, some seem to think it’s showing some signs of maturity. However, the concept is still relatively unfamiliar to many. XPS first wrote on the subject of the investment case for Bitcoin in March 2021, but given the recent uptick in interest, we have revisited the investment case and summarised how Bitcoin stacks up.
